Little Nacho Libre on the Loose!

UPDATE: I just heard on The Tonight show that the little lad's name is "Sammy Black". He's all over the place this week!

Jack Black and musician wife Tanya Haden are the new parents of a baby boy, born Saturday in Los Angeles. Yesterday, Celebrity Baby Blog had a suspicion -- and now People confirms it's true.

Black announced the arrival during Monday's Hollywood premiere of his new comedy Nacho Libre, telling TV's Access Hollywood, "Secretly, between you and me, it's already happened. I've got the babe back at home safe and sound, and I'm actually very anxious to get back to my lovin's (loved ones)."

I think Jack Black is gonna make a really cute dad.. can you imagine the birthday parties this kid is gonna have? Jack will put Steve Martin in Parenthood to shame. Anyways, go see Nacho Libre this weekend to celebrate!

Harvard in the Headlines...

Weezer's hottie music nerd Rivers Cuomo finally did it... he officially became a real smartie pants... he graduated from Harvard University this last weekend. After 10 years and a platinum album with his band Weezer.... Rivers earned his BA in English and a spot in Phi Beta Kappa -- ooh la la! I wonder if his world tour counted as an elective?

Rivers was a lucky fellow since Seth McFarland, creator of Family Guy, was a commencement speaker at Harvard's graduation. He's so funny... that's all I can say.

Daryl Hannah was arrested with about 40 other farmers and protesters at an urban garden in Los Angeles. Daryl had spent more than 23 days sitting in a walnut tree to protest the destruction of a 14-acre garden used by over 350 different individuals in an area surrounded by railroad tracks and warehouses. This particular horticultural horror has drawn the attention of perennial concerned Danny Glover, Joan Baez, Willie Nelson and infamous tree-sitter Julia Hill.

Horowitz noted that the farmers were squatting on land zoned for warehouses and factories. The landowner said in a telephone interview that he was paying $25,000 to $30,000 a month in mortgage and other land costs.

While I think every urban setting should have adequate green space - and that cities are obligated plan it into their futures - I'm not sure that private citizens should have to just hand over the land they own because it's already being used. One one hand, these farmers and gardeners are nothing more than squatters. But, on the other hand, if you have invested over a decade in something and have businesses and livelihoods that depend on it... you should fight for it.

Zoning doesn't mean anything where I live, everyone and their dog is grandfathered in to the laws. Maybe the city should have a land "exchange" program for rich land owners (that obviously hate flowers, trees and their vegetables!) to trade their "green space" with empty strip malls that litter every other intersection. Then everybody could be happy.

Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen are almost of legal drinking age... only one more year and they can finally legally get into all those clubs they're let into anyways. Oh to be one of the hot teens in Lalaland... no drinking age, no clubbing age, no hit and run rules... anything goes in H-town!

The two faces of Adam Sandler...

Adam Sandler has quite a year ahead of him... on the heels of Click, his movie that is due out in two weeks... Mr. Funnypants has already wrapped a 9/11 themed movie, Empty City, with Don Cheadle. It's a movie dealing with the aftermath of 9/11 and the friendship that he rekindles with his college roomate. Hopefully it will be more drama and less sap than Spanglish - and more heart and less awkwardness than Punch Drunk Love. It's about time we decide once and for all whether or not Mr. Sandler has real acting chops.

On a lighter note - in his other upcoming film, the one where he marries the King of Queens, he's back to his usual silly self. It's some sort of plot involving insurance... and needing a wife.... I'm sure hilarity will ensue. Kevin James was the only funny part of Hitch last summer... you never know.

Trudie Styler, wife of Sting, surprised her son, Jake Sumner, at his 21st birthday party by showing a video of his birth. Yum! That sure takes the fun out of eating red velvet birthday cupcakes...

One witness says, "Everyone was totally shocked and just didn’t know where to look when Trudie put the video on. It was very graphic and rather gruesome. Poor Jake turned bright red. It was certainly the most talked about part of the evening."

Mom defends herself saying Jake was secretly proud of the video (like he had anything to do with it!) and wasn't really that embarassed... yeah, most 21 year olds love watching intimate gorefests of their parents with all their friends. Maybe she'll show their tantric sex tape on Sting's birthday... how can I get on that guest list?

Uncle Andy would be proud...

I absolutely love Andy Warhol. I am admittedly a giant sponge - consuming information in every pop culture form, just like Andy. I've always felt like he understood the inherent beauty in the everyday disposability and immediacy of our daily lives. He made soup very expensive... he's a genius. Anyways... Christie's is auctioning off a collection of clothing items and polaroids from Andy's nephew Jeffrey Warhola including one of his silver wigs from the 1960s and a pair of green corduroy pants!

I think Andy would be very pleased... he'd love the fact that people would spend lots of money for random things he gave his nephew. He would love that his name draws that kind of attention. He would probably blush and act like he didn't care.. but he would secretly love it. Who said everyone would be famous for 15 minutes... more like 15 millenial minutes.

Little Izzy will join her big sister Alexia (from Borosso's previous marriage) to round out the happy little family of 4. She won't be lonely for friends in the hood... now little Violet Affleck will have a best friend to write an Oscar for someday.

Yummy Yummy Crab Cakes

This is a recipe for nutty crab cakes from The Hamptons Diet Cookbook. It's low carb appeal is a great alternative to hamburgers and hotdogs at your weekend cookout.

Southampton Crab Cakes (Serves 4)

• 1/2 lb. lump crabmeat
• 1/2 cup pecans, ground in food processor
• Salt
• 1 tbsp fresh chives, minced
• 2 tbsp. sour cream
• 2 tbsp. macadamia nut oil
• 6 large shallots, sliced

1. Place the crabmeat in a mixing bowl. Add 1/4 cup of the pecans, salt, chives and sour cream. Blend well.
2. Heat the oil in a skillet. Add the shallots. Saute over medium heat for about 3 minutes.
3. Form the crabmeat into 4 balls and roll them in the remaining pecans. Flatten the balls into the shape of burgers and place in the oil. Cover the pan and cook the cakes for 5 minutes on each side. Remove the cover and allow the cakes to brown on both sides.
4. Remove the cakes from the pan and spoon the pan juices over them. Let cakes sit for 5 minutes before serving.

I couldn't resist posting this new pic of the Stefani-Rossdale's out for a stroll. You can't see little Kingston ... but never fret, pics of the new baby and mad-cool momma Gwen will be in this week's OK! magazine. It seems they were bumped back a week due to all the Shiloh hoohah this week.

HOOKUPS: Oliver Hudson is officially off the market. Another Goldie Hawn spawn has married actress Erinn Bartlett in Mexico on Friday. The blonde beauty fits right into the family line-up! Source

In other hookup news.. it seems that the rumors of Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey are true. They've been dating since late last year but have been able to keep it quiet until this week. Who woulda thought they could keep their mouths shut?

BREAK-UPS: Say it isn't so! PerezHilton reports that Zach Braff and Mandy Moore are all over. I guess Zach couldn't keep up with the multi-talented Mandy anymore. This isn't the first time that we've heard rumors of a breakup... maybe Zack was on the prowl again? Sources say: she did the dumpin! Maybe he'll blog about it on his new blog at zachbraff.com.

Ryan Reynolds and Alannis Morissette called it quits this week too... I wonder what kind of songs she'll write this time. If Dave Coulier inspired such angst... what will a hot guy do to this girl????
